DoJ Serves Sony with Subpoena

Posted by Kara Reeder Oct 26, 2009 11:30:36 AM

A Sony subsidiary, Sony Optiarc America, has received a subpoena the U.S. Justice Department seeking information about its U.S. optical disk drive business, reports The Wall Street Journal. The precise nature of the subpoena is not clear.

Tokyo analysts say Sony probably isn't too worried:

The U.S. part of this business shouldn't be so big that [any possible sanction] would shake Sony's entire operations.

Reuters notes that other countries want information on the state of competition in optical disc drives.
