Acer Buyout of Gateway Approved

Susan Hall

U.S. antitrust regulators have approved Acer's planned $710 million acquisition of U.S. PC vendor Gateway, reports InfoWorld.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice had 30 days to scrutinize the deal, which required the approval because of its size.

Meanwhile, vnunet.com reports at least two class-action lawsuits have been filed by Gateway shareholders unhappy with terms of the sale.
