Is it Time for a Data Reference Model Update?

Experts say that due to the improvement of semantic technologies, federal agencies might be able to benefit from an update of the federal data reference model (DRM).

Government Computer News reports that the federal CIO Council has been taking suggestions on how to improve the data-sharing framework. Lucian Russell, owner of Expert Reasoning and Decisions consulting firm and one of the architects who refined Version 2.0 of DRM, suggests that descriptions of data and the specification of how to describe the broader context for the data be expanded due to better semantic-based machine processing.
