Yahoo Rejects Latest Microsoft Offer

Posted by Susan Hall Jul 14, 2008 10:44:44 AM

Yahoo's board on Saturday night quickly rejected Microsoft's latest offer to buy its search business, calling the proposal "completely absurd and irresponsible," reports The San Jose Mercury News.

As Mercury New columnist Chris O'Brien tells it, under the plan, investor Carl Icahn was then to buy the leftovers.

The New York Times sees the alliance between Microsoft and Icahn growing more aggressive as the shareholders meeting grows closer.

Meanwhile, News.com runs Icahn's latest letter outlining his slate to oust Yahoo's board.

Microsoft's next move is expected later Monday.
