Will iPad Transform Mobile Advertising?

Apple's newest gadget, the iPad, has advertisers all in tizzy thinking up new ways to push products. It's a bigger smartphone rather than a smaller laptop, and mobile users are more willing to pay for content and more open to advertising, explains Millennial Media CEO Paul Palmieri in The Baltimore Sun.

The Independent describes one such scenario:

Imagine watching, say, an episode of 'Mad Men' on your iPad, touching the screen when you see a jacket you like, and  immediately being able to order it via an online store. At a stroke product placement becomes a measurable, transactionable and immensely more interesting proposition for advertisers and content creators alike.

And since it does not run Adobe's Flash, it could significantly change the landscape in online advertising by pushing Flash aside and forcing developers to use other programming methods, according to direct traffic media. Wired quotes Apple CEO Steve Jobs saying that's the plan; the world is moving to HTML5 anyway.
