Carl Icahn Resigns from Yahoo Board

Posted by Ainsley Jones Oct 26, 2009 9:01:08 AM

Carl Icahn has resigned from Yahoo's board of directors. In his resignation letter, the billionaire investor wrote:

I don't believe that it is necessary at this time to have an activist on the board of Yahoo and currently, my attention is focused on other matters.

It has been a little over a year since Icahn was given a seat on Yahoo's board following his attempt to oust the board of directors over his displeasure in the failed sale of the company to Microsoft, reports ZDNet UK.

After his contentious relationship with Yahoo founder Jerry Yang, Icahn was a vocal supporter of new chief executive Carol Bartz. V3.co.uk also notes that Icahn's role in the search and advertising deal with Microsoft was a quiet one.
