AT&T Sells 235 Cell Towers

Posted by Susan Hall Jan 22, 2009 12:42:25 PM

AT&T announced it is selling 235 cell towers in 24 states to Global Tower Partners, a company that outsources wireless services to carriers, reports rcrwireless.com. The purchase price was not disclosed.

The move is seen as an effort to cut costs, since leasing the service is less expensive than maintaining the towers, according to InformationWeek.

Sprint also recently sold more than 3,000 towers.
