Though IT jobs are still among the best in America, IT staff are not exempt from the from the pay freezes, pay cuts and unpaid furloughs that some companies are still implementing. In a recent blog post, IT Business Edge editor Ann All named several companies that have used one or more of these measures to control costs. Several surveys taken over the summer back up the idea that IT executives are still considering slashing employee salary and benefits. But, All asks, is doing so a good idea with the economy showing signs of recovery and IT skills seemingly in demand?

If these measures are a must, then Sarah Mitchell, associate director of San Francisco recruiting company The Alexander Group, suggests a promise to cancel out the pay cuts when the economy improves.
