Problem-Solving Focus of 'Tools for Project Management' Book Excerpt

John Storts

Consultant and author Nicolai Andler offers a unique, tools-oriented approach to solving problems that occur during complex projects. His book "Tools for Project Management, Workshops, and Consulting" provides "cookbook-style" access to more than 100 important project skills, techniques and tools, rather than merely recounting the details of managing a project.

Andler recently contributed an excerpt from the book that examines the processes used to solve problems that can arise during projects. The "Problem solving" section of the second chapter:

. Emphasizes the "solution path" to solving problems

. Explores and compares different problem-solving approaches

. Describes the four basic problem-solving process steps

The single best software for viewing Microsoft Project plans is the Seavus Project Viewer. It is a low-cost(trial) Viewer for Microsoft Project that allows users to open, view and print project plans (mpp files) apart from Microsoft Project with all MS Projects functionalities integrated.
