Measuring SEO from an SMB Perspective

Patrick Avery

IT Business Edge contributor Paul Mah offers small businesses a primer on search engine optimization in his latest blog post. This short post gives readers a solid introduction to terms such as page view, unique visitor and bounce rate.

Perhaps the most important advice, Mah contends, is to know your keywords.

"It is important to know the keywords that are driving these visitors in from the various search engines. The mechanics of how this is done is not relevant here -- such statistics can be automatically captured by the relevant analytics engines. However, it is prudent to be aware of the top 10-20 keywords or search engine terms for your site."

That excerpt contains the entirety of Chapter 3, "Planning Your Search Engine Strategy." The chapter excerpt shows you how a search engine campaign works overall and how you can tie that to your business.

I do agree with you and it was a great advice as well, but you know different peoples have different perspectives.

I would rather call it a short but brief SEO course. Will be helpful for even newbies. You did a great job for compiling links.

Thanks for sharing

Keyword research is the first port of call for all successful online marketing strategies and so a good place to start in introducing the world of SEO to SMB's. Well done!
