It was another rough year for IT when it comes to job cuts, but our own Susan Hall points out that there's reason for encouragement. While job cuts in the tech sector totaled around 37,000, this number represented a 21 percent decline when compared with figures from 2010 (46,825).
With Facebook and Google moving into NYC and Microsoft increasing its presence in Chicago, among other positive trends, it's time for employers and employees to focus on tightening up job descriptions: Job creators must make sure that job posts accurately reflect core responsibilities, experiences and skills, while job seekers should comprehensively, yet concisely, play to their strengths when tailoring resumes based on those criteria.
