Epic Fails in IT Land

Patrick Avery

We're working on a project here at IT Business Edge about IT department failures and we think our readers can be valuable sources.

Please tell us about a big, notable failure you have experienced or seen an IT department make. Per the request of this project's leader, keep these comments related to mistakes made by a company's IT decision-makers and top implementers, as opposed to Windows Vista-type product development errors by vendors.

You can respond to us by commenting in this blog, posting a comment in this discussion board thread, or by e-mailing me at patrick.avery@itbe.com.

I hope to hear from many of you!

I used to sell EDI software for servers and desktops. Our company would ship the software cd to the customers. Our IT department always had to walk them through the install. Now it is much easier with SAAS and webex. I can demo how the installation process is to the clients IT team with little or no tech training. But there are always glitches. Some are so to gather the  install information and product knowledge.
