'8 Things' Book Provides Strategies for Managing Information

Patrick Avery

Top 10 lists are a popular way to disseminate information about the best music, movies, books, celebrity couples and on and on. But they can also be helpful in the business world. And while it's not quite 10, the Digital Landfill blog has been dishing out advice on eight things, reasons and steps you can use to improve information management in your business.

Most recently, "8 Things" has been made into a book, "8 Reasons You Need a Strategy for Managing Information - Before It's Too Late."

Those eight reasons include:

1. A tidal wave of information.

2. Ubiquitous computing.

3. Social everything.

4. Collaboration without governance is a disaster.

5. The era of simplicity.

6. The Tree-Hugger's time has come.

7. You can no longer do this manually.

8. Mismanagement risks are rising.

A book excerpt of "8 Reasons" in the Knowledge Network covers all these areas in detail. If you like what you see, you can follow a link on that page to download the rest of the book for free.

Also, check out the Digital Landfill blog for other topics regarding Twitter, managing inboxes, SharePoint and other enterprise content-management issues.
