Microsoft Skips Patch Tuesday; Set Your Clock by It

Ken-Hardin

Reactions to the news that Microsoft plans to skip its Patch Tuesday security update this month are mixed.

A nice roundup article at NewsFactor Network touches base with several security "evangelists," some of whom say last month's relatively large patch release probably cleared the pipeline at Redmond, while others note that there are still several zero-day threats in the wild.

In its preview announcement, Microsoft notes that it will still release an update to the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and a couple of high-priority, non-security updates this month.

Several commentaries, including this one at SearchSecurity.com, have suggested that in the fracas over the Daylight Savings Time issue, many IT shops might actually welcome the absence of a Patch Tuesday implementation.
