Weaving a Tighter Fabric

Arthur Cole

Application delivery over distributed networks is moving into the fast lane as new fabric architectures take down many of the roadblocks that have hampered performance so far.

GemStone Systems has introduced a new version of its Enterprise Data Fabric that the company says will improve the ability to maintain service-level agreements through improved querying and event notification.

The EDF 5.5 features a pluggable security framework and a new graphical monitoring tool capable of overseeing multiple deployed distributed systems. Another key component is a distributed event-processing design that allows users to scale the system up or down to meet changing market conditions.

In addition, the platform has an improved capability to handle data bursts without loss of either data or events for both connected and disconnected applications.
