VirtenSys Warms to Fibre Channel

Arthur Cole

Just a quick update on yesterday's post about VirtenSys. It seems that the company has broadened its support for network interfaces to include Fibre Channel-specifically Fibre Channel host bus adapters from QLogic.

The move allows the VirtenSys IOV switch to virtualize the QLogic HBAs among several physical servers without having to make any changes to operating systems, device drivers or the servers or HBAs themselves.

VirtenSys claims its virtual I/O technology improves network device utilization by 80 percent, with corresponding cuts in management and operational expenses, cooling and equipment costs.

The company's product line now supports Fibre Channel, Ethernet and SAS/SATA interfaces and is available in both rack-mounted and blade server configurations.
