High-end enterprise technology continues to trickle down to the mid-level market, with appliances emerging as one of the key means of delivery.
Fujitsu Computer Systems has released the Eternus 4000 Model 300 SAN business continuity appliance that provides many of the same storage technology, replication software and bandwidth capabilities found in larger systems.
At less than one rack unit in size, the device acts as a network-attached disk-to-disk-to-tape virtual library. It scales from about 1 TB of capacity to 90 TB and can be set up in one of three drive configurations: high-performance SAS, nearline SATA or MAID groups. Throughput maxes out at about 300 Mbps.
Base price starts at about $30,000.
