British firm Plasmon PLC has unveiled its latest archiving appliance, claiming it to be the first enterprise-class device that combines long-term, online storage with bundled data management to ensure integrity and availability.
The NetArchive system integrates NetApp RAID technologies with the Plasmon Archive Appliance and features new proprietary intelligent data management software that allows users to provision data within the system according to the requirements of access, e-discovery and disaster recovery policies. This allows data to be moved between the RAID and the Archive Appliance automatically, without the need of an external archive management system.
Company execs say the goal is to provide a fully virtualized archive solution that offers intelligent management on a single storage node. Rather than rely on multiple management system to shuttle data between secondary, tertiary and off-site storage tiers, the NetArchive system promises a single solution that provides a range of price, performance and retention choices.
