Packeteer Lays out Goals

Arthur Cole

Packeteer is laying out its vision of application acceleration, says eWEEK, one that includes a strong dose of network intelligence to smooth the flow of traffic and foster the ability to provide any application, anytime, anywhere, to anyone.

Central to this strategy is the IntelligenceCenter management system that provides application monitoring and optimization, as well as QoS enforcement and configuration management for up to 2,500 of the company's PacketShaper, iShaper and iShared appliances. Performance levels are defined through a monitoring portal that allows you to set performance standards for various file, transaction and even voice/video applications.

Packeteer has also established what it calls Project Turbo, an extension to the company's appliances that supports multiple Gbps links and scales network functions like bandwidth partitioning and policy control for long-haul WAN services.
