Oracle Looks to Boost Industrial Connection

Arthur Cole

Following up on last week's post on the strengthening ties between enterprise and industrial Ethernets, ILS Technology has announced that its deviceWISE 2.0 software is now compatible with Oracle's Manufacturing Operations Center.

With the combined system, managers will be able to collect factory automation and control data through deviceWISE and transmit it as real-time events to Oracle for analysis on ways to improve productivity and reduce costs. The system can be connected to virtually any industrial device, including PACs, PLCs and RFID readers.

Industrial framebusses are rapidly giving way to more flexible Ethernet-based technology as manufacturers look to increase productivity on the shop floor. Hooking up to the enterprise is an added bonus in that it allows for even greater centralization of data to enhance business intelligence capabilities.
