ONStor Ramps Up Clustered Storage

Arthur Cole

Clustered storage vendor ONStor has released a powerful new solution that is not only capable of scaling into the multi-petabyte range but packs a healthy I/O infrastructure to get all that data in and out quickly.

The Cougar 6000 NAS gateway can scale up to 4 petabytes in a single cluster consisting of eight nodes and 32 virtual servers. Each 2U enclosure is outfitted with eight Gigabit Ethernet ports and eight Fibre Channel ports.

The system is designed around the company's EverScale architecture that features field-replaceable hardware that can be hot-swapped and hot-plugged to boost capacity without taking the system off-line.

That kind of functionality does not come cheap, however. The system starts at a list of $122,500.
