Newcomer Debuts Low-End SAN

A new name has emerged in the iSCSI SAN market. PrimeArray Systems of Natick, Mass., has released the AutoStor system, billing it as a high-end system priced for small and medium-sized enterprises.


The system comes in two flavors. The XR series ranges from a 1 RU, four-drive system to a 3 RU eight-drive configuration, with disk sizes ranging from 80 GB to 1 TB. A multilink functions allows you to connect two systems for up to 16 TB of raw storage.


The XL series starts as a 2 RU, eight-drive system, expandable to 3 RUs with 16 drives, with either 2 GbE or 4 GbE iSCSI offload with load balancing and failover. It also provides advanced features like volume snapshots, dual power supplies and enhanced backplane optimization.


Both systems support online volume expansion, dedicated hot spare disks and multiple RAID volumes.


Pricing starts at $3,400.
