Networking in Tight Spaces

Arthur Cole

Even small servers need high-speed networking capacity.

Interphase Corp. has unveiled a new set of slot optimizers aimed at providing connectivity for server form factors that have limited expansion options that prevent them from having multiple Ethernet connections. The dual-port SlotOptimizer 562GL and quad-port SlotOptimizer 564GL are low-profile PCI-Express GE adapters with auto-negotiation capability that allows them to self-configure to find the broadest possible connection.

The devices are built on Broadcom designs and support 10/100/1000 Mbps ports with RJ45 connectors. They sport a number of advanced features like CPU task offloading, priority queuing link aggregation and failover.
