IBM Users See New CNAs

IBM users with iSCSI SANs in place will be among the first to wade into unified storage territory with a new set of converged network adapter (CNA) cards for the BladeCenter and System x platforms.

ServerEngines Corp. has released the BEM3I10 high-speed I/O expansion card for the BladeCenter and the BEA3X10 stand-up PCIe adapter card for the System x. Both cards provide standards-based 10 GbE connectivity and full-protocol offload iSCSI SAN capability.

The company says it focused on the IBM platform first due to the company's open architecture design and their ability to support shared IP storage. The cards were certified under the BladeCenter Interoperability Program and the System x Compatibility program.

In addition, ServerEngines CNAs have passed VMware's ESX 3.5 NIC Hardware Compatibility Tests, Microsoft's WHQL NIC & iSCSI Initiator certification, and the UNH-IOL 10 Gb iSCS interoperability tests.
