HP Adds Brocade 5000 to StorageWorks

Arthur Cole

HP StorageWorks users will be happy to know that there's a new high-performance switch at their disposal.

The company recently added the 4 Gbps Brocade 5000 switch to the StorageWorks family, under the 4/32B SAN Switch moniker. The move is the latest for the HP B-Series portfolio, which already includes the Brocade 48000 Director and 4100 and 200E switches.

The system is aimed at departmental or core-edge enterprise SANs, offering 4 Gbps in a 1U form factor, with scalability from 16 to 32 ports.

The move is in keeping with HP's focus on lower power solutions. Brocade touts the system as consumer 76 percent less power that similar SAN connectivity solutions.
