Arthur Cole

Storage systems are becoming more varied as the industry attempts to tailor its designs to an increasingly diverse IT industry.

Check out this new offering from Fujitsu. The UDS 1000 is a 24 TB NAS appliance that incorporates the Windows Unified Data Storage Server (WUDSS) and Microsoft's management console in an easily installed package aimed at SMBs.

The system features Fujitsu's Eternus storage technology that offers enterprise-class performance and accommodates both file-level NAS data and block-level iSCSI data using standard SMB/CIFS, NFS and iSCSI protocols.

The system is available immediately at a price of about $10,000 for 4.5 TB.
