Fujitsu Taps Transitive Migration System

Arthur Cole

Data center consolidation may be all the rage at the moment, but that doesn't make the process any easier, particularly when it comes to decommissioning legacy hardware and migrating data to a new platform.

Fujitsu Siemens customers will soon have an easier time of it now that the company has integrated Transitives Corp.'s QuickTransit system to Fujitsu's server line. The system allows software applications to run on multiple hardware platforms without source code or changes to binary code.

QuickTransit will be available in multiple configurations, including SPARC-to-Linux migrations on the x86 and Itanium platforms and SPARC-to-Solaris on the x86-64 platform. The system will be of particular benefit to users looking to shed their SPARC-based hardware in favor of the newer PrimErgy and PrimeQuest servers.
