New technologies based on the OPC-Unified Architecture format, aimed at linking the enterprise to the factory floor, are making their way to the market.
ILS Technology has launched a new version (2.0) of the deviceWise platform supporting OPC-UA and native production device standards as well as IT application and middleware protocols and multiplatform server environments.
The company aims to move OPC-UA connectivity from the edge of the production network into the IT framework, allowing transaction information to be generated from the enterprise. The new deviceWise links virtually all production devices, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and radio frequency ID (RFID) units, to servers running popular databases like Oracle, IBM DBS2 and SQL.
The company plans to launch the system in several showcase environments early next year.
