EMC Taps Netezza Warehousing

Arthur Cole

More news from EMC World: The company has joined forces with data warehouse vendor Netezza to put the CLARiiON network storage system on the Performance Server warehouse appliance.

The OEM agreement is intended to give both companies a leg up in the growing warehousing market by deploying more robust appliances that are easy to set up and bring new levels of business intelligence to enterprise customers.

The deal specifically calls for the CLARiiON AX4 solution because the companies aim to provide a souped-up warehousing platform capable of near-line storage as well as data-staging for loading, backup and disaster recovery -- all without adding to the appliance's existing data center footprint.

The CLARiiON system will be sold and supported as an integrated component of the Netezza appliance.
