DroboPro Hits the Channel

Call it Instant Backup in a Can.

Data Robotics has released a professional version of its Drobo storage appliance designed to provide a direct-attached backup system for either servers or workstations. The DroboPro is built on a simplified RAID configuration that houses up to eight 3.5-inch SATA drives, with a redundancy feature that lets you swap out two disks simultaneously without losing data. The drives can vary according to manufacturer, capacity, speed and other attributes.

The device uses iSCSI, GbE, FireWire 800 or USB 2.0 to connect directly to single or multiple servers or workstations, eliminating standard network configuration issues. The company also makes an adapter for top-of-rack housing.

Pricing starts at $1,299 and head up to $4,000 for a 16 TB unit.
