Dell Tapped for Network Server Platform

Arthur Cole

Dell has been hired to build a specialized networking server aimed at monitoring and managing Web service performance for both XML and SOA applications, reports Byte and Switch.

Ireland's Vordel has turned to Dell's Industrial Solutions Group to build a hardware platform for the company's VX acceleration and parallelization software stack. The goal is to deliver a fully configured, rack-mounted device that will deliver the company's XML Gateway and XML Firewall systems as enterprises seek to deploy wider ranges of SOA appliances.

The VX platform features Web-based command line administration, cryptographic acceleration and a RAID disk array.

This is the first major enterprise partnership for Dell in Europe since the company expanded its ISG wing to the region last summer. The company is focused on developing new lines of specialized, pre-integrated servers for everything from enterprise and networking customers to medical, industrial and security organizations.
