DataCore Unifies Virtual SANs

Arthur Cole

Good news for enterprises looking to unify their SAN connectivity: DataCore Software has come out with a new version of its storage virtualization software that works with both iSCSI and Fibre Channel.

The new Virtual Infrastructure Foundation Plus (VIF+) runs on standard AMD or Intel hardware or on virtual machines from the leading vendors. With it, enterprises can offer thin provisioning over iSCSI or FC SANs. It also bumps thin provisioning storage pools to 4 TB and offers snapshot technology for high-speed disk-to-disk backup.

Other features include Virtual Capacity Flexibility that allows users to "auto-grow" thin provisioning of disk space so that only the required resources are allocated at any given time, and intelligent storage I/O caching for enhanced network performance.

VIF+ is priced under $3,000 and is available immediately.
