BlueArc Taps Brocade File Management

Arthur Cole

An interesting match-up was announced this week between the Brocade StorageX file virtualization system and BlueArc's Titan unified storage system.

With BlueArc reselling the StorageX system, Titan customers will see improved file management capabilities as both the number and size of files expand. StorageX is designed to provide management services in distributed, heterogeneous environments, which makes it a good fit for a unified storage platform.

The ultimate goal is to provide an end-to-end virtual storage environment through which enterprise managers can gain a consolidated view of all files, regardless of type of location. Among the key benefits are improved business continuity through techniques like transparent failover and replication to secondary storage sites, along with automation of many of the workaday data management tasks like migration and consolidation, which free up technicians for other tasks.

As a unified storage platform, the Titan is SAN/NAS agnostic, allowing it to operate comfortably in either environment or in the growing number of enterprises that are mixing the two together.
