Thin client vendors are quickly figuring out that in the virtual desktop universe, flexibility is everything. And while the thin client itself can be tricked out to meet enterprise requirements, centralized management software can help bring you into the big leagues.
Take a company called BOSaNOVA, for example. Its thin clients are as full-featured as the next guy's. But now that the company has teamed with Leostream Corp., it has access to a powerful new set of tools that foster the creation of a complete Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
The Leostream Connection Broker allows the BOSaNOVA devices to integrate physical and virtual desktops, blades and Terminal Server sessions and any related resources that may be required, such as authentication servers and external SSL virtual private networks. It also provides location-based policy support and global user redirection to enable a smooth user experience without giving up central control.
Together, the companies say their technologies can provide a full turn-key VDI platform within existing heterogeneous environments with full security and reliability at less cost than traditional architectures.
