ATTO Links Mac to HP Storage

Posted by Arthur Cole Mar 26, 2008 5:50:20 PM

Mac users continue to gain new options when it comes to networking their beloved platform to the wider enterprise.

ATTO Technology recently introduced a new version of its Xtend iSCSI SAN initiator that allows users to access the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array, according to Byte and Switch. Version 3.10 of the Xtend system provides a low-cost Ethernet connectivity solution and brings to the table many of the iSCSI applications found in the StorageWorks system, such as storage consolidation, collaborative workflows and remote access to Fibre Channel SANs.

Meanwhile, HP users can leverage the Xtend system to tap into Mac environments through support for the OS X operating system, as well as tools like the Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP), Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) and the Login Redirect availability function.
