Yahoo Snags Zimbra for $350 Million

Lora Bentley

bizjournals.com reports that Yahoo is acquiring open source e-mail provider Zimbra. In Q4 2007 -- when Yahoo expects the transaction to close -- Zimbra will become a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Yahoo expects the $350 million deal will help "expand its presence 'in universities, businesses and through ISPs by enabling organizations to host e-mail on or off premises with their own domain.'"
