Microsoft and Xandros are extending their collaboration deal, according to News.com. Originally focused on interoperability between the companies' server offerings, the agreement will now include work to deploy Windows-based mobile e-mail with Xandros-owned Scalix servers.
Xandros will license Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync and Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol to accomplish the goal, and the first results of the work are expected in six months to a year. According to Xandros CEO Andreas Typaldos,
...this agreement will enable us to provide the same range of Scalix connectivity choices for users of desktop, laptop and handheld devices that they currently enjoy with Microsoft Exchange.
