Demand for open source customer relationship management is growing in Europe, according to a DMN Newswire report this morning, and "commercial open source" CRM vendor SugarCRM wants to at least take advantage of that demand, if not grow it further.
The company is opening its European offices in Dublin, where SugarCRM co-founder Clint Oram will lead operations. SugarEurope will focus on growing partner and customer relationships throughout Europe -- starting with localizing materials for the French and German markets. To date, the company's best growth in Europe has come from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland and the UK. More than 30 percent of Sugar Open Source downloads also come from Europe.
Oram points out that the company's decision to branch out in Europe demonstrates just how crucial the European market is to the "success of [SugarCRM's] commercial open source model."
