Psystar Ships Mac Clones, Also Offers Ubuntu, XP-based PCs

Psystar is back online and has started shipping Mac PCs, according to InformationWeek. After a week of speculation as to its legitimacy, the Florida-based business that has been selling Mac OS X Leopard installed on generic hardware says systems ordered at the beginning of the month are shipping now.

When the company took its Web site offline the first time, observers thought maybe Psystar was caving to legal pressure from Apple, but it turns out the company's payment processor had refused to handle the volume of traffic generated by the prospect of a less-expensive Leopard-based PC.

The company's Website indicates it is offering Ubuntu- and Windows XP-based PCs in addition to the Mac clone.

Stay tuned. I'm sure the saga will continue.
