Oracle Withdraws Request for Antitrust Clearance from Russia

Oracle has yet another country's antitrust watchdogs on its back regarding the Sun Microsystems acquisition. This time it's Russia.

The Wall Street Journal reports officials asked Oracle to withdraw notification of the deal until it's closer to closing, or "face a blocking decision" from Russia. Writer Peppi Kiviniemi suggests authorities don't want to clear the acquisition until they see what the European Union decides to do with it.

The database giant has withdrawn the notice, but is expected to file it again soon.
