The third draft of the third version of the GNU General Public License (or GPL v3 draft 3) is expected to be released today. The draft was delayed for several weeks when GPL authors decided to include specific language in the license to address the Microsoft-Novell patent agreement -- in hopes of avoiding similar agreements in the future.
A Tectonic writer points out that the delay in the draft process will no doubt delay release of the final product until at least mid-year. Given the questions and heated debate that the first two drafts have wrought, who knows what GPL v3 draft 3 will bring with it?
I guess we'll have to wait and see, along with everyone else. We'll post more when the draft is released and people have had time to react.
