Microsoft and Skype: Very Close to a Done Deal

Lora Bentley

Oxite is the new open source blog engine from Microsoft. As PCWorld.com reported Wednesday, Redmond has released "the early version" of a content management platform upon which companies can build blogs or Web sites:

Its creators...were building the MIX Online site for Web designers and wanted to offer an example of a use for ASP.NET MVC.

The story says Oxite includes many common blog features, such as pingbacks, trackbacks, comments that are anonymous or authenticated, and a comment modification option. However, Oxite also allows the addition of Web pages.

The project page on CodePlex says the alpha release has been available since Friday, Dec. 5, and as of this writing, has been downloaded 8,731 times.
