Keeping an Eye on UNIX Processes

Lora Bentley

For the more technically inclined among you, or those looking for UNIX refreshers for software development teams, IBM recently posted this informative UNIX tutorial -- complete with diagrams and sample code -- at developerWorks. According to the author, this latest installment in the Speaking UNIX series is designed to give the reader a window (no pun intended) into the processes in which different end user tasks are contained.

The article explains what a process is, how it is created, how it is related to other processes, how different processes can be viewed, and how to juggle, suspend or terminate them.

Not surprisingly, the "Resources" section links to previous articles in the series, as well as to developerWorks blogs and forums.
