The days when computer users declare themselves loyal to a single vendor are very rapidly coming to a close, says PC World Canada, especially in the operating system space. Microsoft's Windows not only has competition from various Linux distributions, UNIX and Apple's offerings, but to some extent from OSs specifically designed for more narrowly focused markets.

 

Moreover, virtualization and interoperability advances make it possible to run multiple OSs simultaneously in a single environment, or even on a single machine.
