Accountancy Age reported Friday that Steven Harris is the newest appointee to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. He will fill the vacancy created by Kayla Gillam's departure last fall. The Securities and Exchange Commission approved the appointment unanimously.
Interestingly, this isn't the first contact that Harris has had with the board. He served as a staff member on the Senate Banking Committee while Sarbanes-Oxley was drafted, and it was according to Sarbanes-Oxley that the PCAOB was created.
To come to the PCAOB, Harris will leave his post as senior vice president and special counsel at APCO Worldwide.
