GPL v3 Due out Tomorrow

Lora Bentley

Free Software Foundation founder Richard Stallman will release GPL v3 via video feed from fsf.org at 12:00 noon EDT tomorrow, ZDNet reports. FSF executive director Paul announced the date in an e-mail yesterday, the story says.

The revamped license comes three months later than originally expected, 18 months after revisions began, and 16 years after GPL v2 was released.

The majority of ZDNet readers commenting on the story agree with the experts who have spoken to IT Business Edge: GPL v3 will not make a huge splash in the world of software.
