Just yesterday, I wrote about the Securities and Exchange Commission's new corporation finance director, Meredith Cross. In other regulator staffing news, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board now has a new audit chief.
CFO.com reports Martin F. Baumann will assume chief auditor responsibilities as the PCAOB's director of professional standards. The former Freddie Mac CFO joined the PCAOB in 2006 as director of the regulator's office of research and analysis. Prior to his tenure at Freddie Mac, Baumann spent 33 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He said of the appointment, "I am truly honored to now lead the professional standard-setting process within the PCAOB, which is so important to the protection of U.S. investors and to the assurance of high quality audits."
