Android Gets Intrusion Prevention from Savant

Savant Protection has successfully ported its intrusion prevention system to the Android mobile OS platform, according to Business Wire. The Nashua, N.H.-based company says its solution is "the premiere solution available" for preventing malware infection and spread in mobile and wireless devices, primarily because it works in such a way that device operators will barely notice it's there.

According to company information:

Savant technology makes computing systems impervious to the injection and spread of malicious applications, scripts or changes to the system's existing soft infrastructure by providing unique cryptographic signatures to the approved application set on each system.
Savant president and CTO, Ken Steinberg, says Android's emergence is a positive for the mobile space, but that it also provides hackers an entirely new challenge -- and preventing the havoc that could result is why Savant wanted to be a part of Android in the first place.
