SMBs are often portrayed as followers, not leaders, when it comes to adopting new technology.
Which is why we were so intrigued by a recent article in RFID Solutions, which details an RFID project by Schiff Nutrition International, a manufacturer of vitamins and nutritional supplements.
Working with IBM, Schiff developed a pilot in which it will use RFID to monitor new product introductions, promotions and out-of-stocks. This type of product tracking has proven to be one of the most practical applications of RFID thus far.
With big guys like Staples still mulling their RFID futures and mixed messages on RFID's potential circulating, it's great to see SMBs like Schiff that are still willing to at least test the technology.
