Trend Micro Adds Security Options for SMBs

Trend Micro is rolling out a new series of security products and services for SMBs, many of which are designed to address shifting work practices, reports Computer Technology Review.

 

For instance, a new feature of Worry-Free Business Security 5.0 will automatically tweak security settings on laptops when employees are out of the office -- and thus at increased risk of laptop theft or compromise. The settings will even protect data while employees use an outside wireless connection.

 

A new hosted solution, Worry-Free SecureSite, protects e-commerce sites from hacking attacks. This may be of special interest to SMBs since more of them are selling stuff online and many lack in-house security resources and are thus good candidates for solutions delivered via a software-as-a-service model. As IT Business Edge blogger Carl Weinschenk writes:

In general, SaaS provides companies with expertise that they lack. This has particularly strong potential in the security sector, where new threats and new approaches to thwarting those threats proliferate at a dizzying rate. It's hard for security pros to keep up, much less firms with undermanned and overworked IT departments -- or no IT department at all.
